Driver killed after crashing into a pole not far from Memphis airport

MPD officers responded to the crash just before 1:45 a.m. at E. Raines and Boeingshire. They said the driver died at the scene.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police said one person is dead after crashing into a pole early Monday morning just west of Memphis International Airport.

Investigators have not said what led to the crash.

This is the same location of a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon, Feb. 24, 2023, that left one child dead and two other children injured. Memphis Fire told ABC24 at least six people total were injured in that crash. Police said at least one adult was taken to Regional One Hospital in non-critical.
