MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Fire Department investigators said a fire in the garage of Congressman Steve Cohen's midtown home this week was accidental.
Memphis firefighters responded to the fire about 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, on Kenilworth.
Investigators said the fire started in a garage detached from the house. MFD said there were no injuries, and the only damages were to three vehicles, all of which are a "total loss." MFD said the fire caused about $100,000 damage total.
MFD said the fire was accidental, but did not elaborate on how it started.
No one was home at the time of the fire, MFD said. Around 4:30 p.m., ABC24 crews saw Cohen escorted to where the fire was after firefighters put it out.
