MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man has been charged with first degree murder after allegedly stabbing someone to death Saturday in Orange Mound.
23-year-old Stephen Robinson is being held without bond in the Shelby County Jail, accused of stabbing the man multiple times.
According to the Memphis Police Department, officers responded around 11 a.m. Saturday morning to the 700 block of Hamilton. A man was found leaned up against a wall with multiple stab wounds, and pronounced dead at the scene.
MPD said officers later met Robinson while responding to another stabbing call nearby, where Robinson was found with a stab wound to his leg.
According to a police affidavit, Robinson admitted to having just stabbed a man on Hamilton.
Robinson said his car had gone missing, and knew who took it, which is why he killed the man. He also stated he stabbed himself while stabbing the man.
Investigators found two knives on Robinson covered in blood, and matched them to surveillance footage capturing Robinson purchasing the knives and gloves at a nearby AutoZone an hour before the murder.
