“This is an opportunity to really help your community. When we live in our community, we want to have an opportunity for our family members, friends and people who visit our city, to go to our gas stations, our churches, go to work, go to the parks and just to be able to do that in a safe manner. And everyday you can help somebody as a police officer at having a safe environment,” said MPD Assistant Chief Shawn Jones. “We've seen some of the things that have taken place in our nation. But it's the police officers that help to keep this nation safe. And without us we'd have chaos. So being a contributor to that. Just making sure that we can make a safe environment is very important for a good city to be able to prosper."
